Washing Machine Problem

My wife bought a new top-loaded washing machine. And she had a problem. When loading laundry, the washer lid hits the above cabinet and often slams down without warning.
To fix it, I reshaped an "S" hook  - using a vise and pliers to twist the hooks at 90 degrees to each other (and opened each hook a bit). One hook slips over the cabinet handle. The other hook is opened more - to capture the lip of the lid.  The hook was painted black and a rubber tip was added to avoid scratching the lid.  The "s" hook now hangs from the cabinet door to quickly secure the washing machine lid from falling shut.
My wife is pleased.  Wow! That's enough reward for this inventor.
